Simple, stainless-steel-effect bar handles accentuate the linear look, while the Tundra limestone floor tiles retain warmth even after the underfloor heating has been switched off.
Modern red kitchen
The design and cabinetry was created by Alex Lee at In-toto Kitchens, and the limestone floor tiles are from Mandarin Stone.
Kitchen hatch
A hatch in the wall, which is used as a breakfast bar, allows the kitchen to become a social part of the dining room next door. The white and black theme continues in the dining room, but the vibrant red is reserved for the statement kitchen.
The Glacier white worktops are from Corian.
Storage units
Undercabinet lights complement the ceiling spots and provide task lighting for food preparation. The roomy drawers hold crockery and pans, while the overhead cupboards make the most of the space available. The owners chose black accessories, chinaware and appliances to contrast with the red and white.
Larder cupboard
A tall larder unit at the end of the cabinets provides additional storage. It wraps around and hides a ceiling support that remains from the original kitchen wall.
Hidden bin
A smart front panel mimics a stack of 3 drawers and conceals a pull-out bin, as well as keeping the continuity of the horizontal lines around the kitchen.

American-style fridge freezer
The American fridge-freezer dispenses cubed and crushed ice, as well as chilled drinking water. Wall space has been maximised around it with a lift-up door and cupboard above and pull-out larder units on either side.
The fridge-freezer is from Neff.
Modern extractor
A spectacular extractor creates a focal point and illuminates the hob. In black glass, the hood stands out to even better effect against the white background.
The OM chimney extractor hood in black glass is from Elica.
Modern kitchen tap
The chrome tap fulfilled the owner's request for a model that was simple, functional and contemporary. It accompanies a deep bowl and shallower prep sink, both of which are moulded into the worktop.
The tap is from Blanco.
