Channel the Wild West trend with Sainsbury's
Pulling off the trendy log-cabin look couldn't be easier, thanks to the fabulous new Wilderness collection by Sainsbury's
With its rich colours and mellow atmosphere, autumn is the perfect time to update your home and turn it into a warm, cosy haven before the onset of the cold season. And ringing the changes couldn't be easier this year with the latest homeware collection by Sainsbury's, which is packed full with striking, affordable pieces.
The company has twelve in-house designers that tour the world to bring you the very best interior decorating ideas and, this year, they were inspired by the raw colours and tactile textures of the Wild West.
The 'Little House on the Prairie' look is one of the hottest trends this season. The new Wilderness range by Sainsbury's interprets it beautifully with a stunning combination of soft furnishings, accessories, lighting and wall art in Old West and vintage Americana style.
"Combining a pioneering sense of adventure and escapism, this trend stems from a love of the outdoors and a back-to-basics approach to rustic living," explains Andrew Tanner, head of home design at Sainsbury's.
Colours are key to carrying off the log-cabin style. Choose a palette of earthy tones, such as burnt orange, yellow ochre or rich terracotta, as accent notes against aged wooden floors. Don't just go for solid colour - Native American-inspired designs, tribal prints, and pioneer-style checks are perfect to create a Wild West atmosphere.
Pair these with rich, natural textures - faux fur, aged leather, wood - for a genuine country feel. Sainsbury's has a fabulous choice of faux-fur cushions and rugs, plus chunky knit throws and cushions, which are ideal to give your house a warm and cosy feel. Don't skimp on wood either - fill your space with rustic wooden picture frames, handy stools, and of course plenty of logs for your fire.
1/7 The ‘Little House on the Prairie’ trend
Finish off the look with a mix of vintage Americana and rustic lighting such as enamelled pendant lights or copper-finish lamps. Mount mini trophy heads on your walls, sprinkle wax-filled bowls throughout your living areas, and don't forget a faux leather trunk. It provides an instant focal point to any room, especially if topped by a thick faux-fur cushion and soft throws in fiery hues.
2/7 Choose tribal patterns
Native-American tribal prints are the obvious pattern choice to pull off the Wilderness look - think woven rugs, wall hangings and cushions. Sainsbury's twelve in-house designers leave no stone unturned to find inspiration for their prints and this stunning cushion, which is part of the company's latest homeware range, is inspired by bold Navajo designs. Scatter a few across your living room for an authentic Old West feel.

3/7 Trophy head accents
Nothing says Wild West more than a trophy head mounted on your wall, but make sure you update it to modern times. Forget the real skulls and choose instead stylised trophies in a sleek, dark wood finish. Hang your moose, buffalo or stag head above the hearth - alone or in a grouping of two or three - for the perfect log cabin touch.

Plus, it's a handy storage solution to tidy away all those little bits, from craft supplies and instruction manuals to children's crayons. Just top it with cushions and throws for an extra welcoming feel.
