Cosy and effortlessly stylish, the look builds on what Andrew calls a 'gentle' palette that captures all the shades of the British coast: a base of white and stone is enlivened by pops of grey and blue that range from stormy steel to high-noon azure. These restful, elegant colours are then paired with rich natural textures to create a sense of the outdoors - think plenty of rustic, distressed wood, soft throws and the odd rope knot.

'Texture is key in this style, from eye-catching, bubbled glassware to wicker, rope-trimmed storage, laundered cotton cushions and driftwood-hued pottery,' explains Andrew.

Scattering patterned accessories across your rooms helps you play up the coastal theme. Combine cushions in subtle nautical motifs - preferring faded prints for a calming effect - with a sleek port-hole mirror and a multitude of reactive glaze vases echoing the many hues of the sea. Choose wall art in rich blue hues to create an instant focal point and add a sprinkling of nautical objects, such as a model sailing boat or shell display, for a true seaside vibe.
