Jennifer Morgan is an award-winning editor, writer and stylist, with over 25 years’ experience writing, styling and editing home interest magazines. Jennifer was the deputy editor of Ideal Home from 2008-2010, having worked as its interiors editor for three years before. Jennifer moved to launch Ideal Home’s sister title, Style at Home in 2010.

Jennifer studied English literature at Cardiff University, before gaining a post graduate diploma in Magazine Journalism. Her first job was on Home magazine, where she learnt ‘on the job’, putting her hand up to do many a makes and craft project, styling the shoot and being the ‘step-by-step hands’. From Home, she moved to Inspirations Magazine, editing her first magazine, Inside Readers’ Homes at 26, before leaving to join Ideal Home.

After maternity leave in 2015, Jennifer launched several craft magazines and websites, before going freelance in 2016. To date, her clients have included many of her favourite brands, including John Lewis, Dunlem and Nordic House, where she uses her vast editorial experience to produce branded magazines and digital content. She also writes for Ideal Home, both in print and online, Real Homes, Waitrose, Woman & Home, Sainsbury’s Magazine, and has just finished a stint as houses editor for Homes & Gardens.

But it was during lockdown that Jennifer realised her dream of publishing her own magazine – Simply Scandi – the first magazine from her own publishing company Riley Publishing, so named after her daughter. This quarterly title is a must for Scandi fans everywhere

Of course, her home reflects her love of all things Scandi. It’s a new build, which provided her with the perfect blank canvas for a few Scandi pieces she’s lusted after for years.

IDEAL HOME TRUTHS

Where’s your happy place?

In my living room, snuggled up with my cats. As you’d expect, there’s lots of hygge-inspired style, with cushions, throws and candles.

What’s your home addition?

I love a good design book (and can’t bear to part with ANY book). I’m exciting that so many of my contemporaries have written books recently. It’s still on my never-ending to-do list!

What is your next home project?

The back garden. When we moved in, we got a small patio and a patch of grass. Add to that a trampoline, and there’s never been much scope to do anything else. But next year, I have big plans, including a firepit and some lovely outdoor lights. I’ve recently planted the front garden, so am getting more familiar with what will grow and thrive in our new build/builder’s rubble soil!
