Laurie Davidson is a professional stylist, writer and content creator, who lives and breathes interiors. Along with working in-house on some of the UK’s leading interior magazines, she’s also styled homes up and down the country, and produced sets for TV shows, adverts and top brands – everyone from Ikea to Hillarys, Soak & Sleep to Dunelm.

Her career has taken her all over the country, with highlights including appearing on stage at the Ideal Home Show, hosting workshops at Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival and chatting all things interiors on Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 breakfast show, not to mention appearing as a judge for the Amara blog awards not once but twice in the last five years.

From product round-ups for the Independent and Evening Standard, to styled shoots for Stylist and Ideal Home, Laurie has a wealth of knowledge and regularly contributes to various online and print platforms. And writing and styling aren’t the only strings to Laurie’s bow… hosting events with styling demos and craft workshops, whether in store, for the press and influencers, or via video, is something she regularly enjoys.

Ideal Home Truths

Where’s your happy place?

Anywhere with interiors that make me stop and stare, and where the sun is shining! I love to travel and take inspiration from everywhere I go, from ranch-style Deep South USA to the vibrancy of Morocco or tropical Caribbean. In the UK, I love the peacefulness of the Pig hotels along with the opulence of hotels like London’s Mandrake.

What’s your home addiction?

This one is easy: definitely vases! I have a ridiculous amount, but just can’t stop buying them. I’ve got everything from small bud vessels to large floor-standing vases, quirky shaped vases and ones with lots of texture and print. I’ve even got a prop store with two shelves dedicated to ones I use on shoots! Oh, and I can’t resist a window vase either.

What is your next home project?

We are just about to have a roof extension, which will give our house another two bedrooms and extra bathroom. It’s a huge undertaking and I’m not looking forward to all the dust and work, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Plus I get another three rooms to decorate!
