Spruce up your bedroom in 9 easy steps
You don’t have to spend a fortune to give your bedroom a stunning new look
Don’t have the budget for a four-poster or that wallpaper you’ve had your eye on for the best part of a year? Fear not! We’ve got 9 great ideas to help you make the most of what you’ve already got and add an extra bit of pizzazz while you’re at it…
Fabulous florals
The monochrome look in this stunning bedroom ensures the floral theme is not overly feminine – no signs of pink petunias here! A large bouquet of flowers complements the theme and adds a pop of colour to the room.
Super savvy storage
Create a stunning feature using storage as an alternative to a traditional headboard. Using wallpaper inside will instantly add colour and character. Display anything and everything you need close to hand!
Luscious lighting
For a quick and easy transformation, swap out dull lamp shades for something fabulous. If you’ve got the space, go for a large statement light in the middle of the room. If not, bedside lamps and fairy lights can create a charming ambience.

Add some accessories
If your bedroom consists solely of the necessary furniture and that’s about it, adding a few carefully chosen accessories will instantly bring character to the space. Artwork, cushions, ornaments and statement pieces of furniture (it’s ok if you only use that beautiful chair in the corner for storing cardigans) will all add personality.
Pair it back
If you’ve had bright bed linen for as long as you can remember, swap out those colours to a simple white set. Crisp white sheets will give your bedroom that boudoir hotel feel and will make the room feel brighter and more open.
Invest in a statement headboard
A headboard can completely transform a room and can be a relatively cheap investment that will last for years. Can’t find one you love? Buy a plain one and have it upholstered in a fabulous fabric.
Colour me beautiful
Is the beige the only colour in your bedroom? Give your space a colour injection to add vibrancy and character. Unsure about painting the walls a bold shade? Soft furnishings are a great (and affordable way) to bring in some different tones – try a bright rug and some scatter cushions for starters.
Rearrange your furniture
This might sound like an odd suggestion but if you’re bored of your current layout and have the space for a shuffle, move your furniture around to change the feel of the room. Wardrobes have been used to frame the bed in this stunning room and the effect is really striking. A shelf above the bed for accessories (see, we told you they were important) completes the look.
Make way for a mural
Not feeling regular wallpaper but still want a feature wall with the wow-factor? Consider a mural instead… If you’re spectacular in the art department then dig out of those paintbrushes. If your artistic skills leave something to be desired then start scouting the internet as there are several companies with gorgeous ready made designs.
