How to make covered files
Discover how to make these colourful covered files using Country Homes & Interiors' easy instructions
******
You will need
- Box files (we used A4 magazine holders, £7.95 for five, Muji)
- Wallpaper (we used Shri (left), col Hyacinth, £44 a roll, Jardin Boheme collection, Harlequin. Irma (right), col Light Blue, £76 a roll, Cecilia collection, Sandberg)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- PVA glue
- Glue brush
- Ruler
Step 1) Lay the file out sideways on the wrong side of the wallpaper. Draw around the edge with a pencil. Next turn it on to the thinner tall side, lining up the edge of the box with the long edge pencil mark and draw around this. Continue until all sides are complete making sure all the box file sides and shapes are lined up. Mark the front and back sides of the file as you go.
Step 2) Remove the file then add an extra 5cm on to each of the sides of the drawn out shape. Mark out with the ruler and pencil and cut out. Wrap the cut paper back around the box files, snipping thin V-shapes out near the corners, and softly folding to work out the fit.
Step 3) Remove the file from the paper. Paste the wrong side of the paper and rewrap around the box, folding over any overhanging edges or folding and tucking the paper behind, underneath or inside for neatness. Snip off any excess paper if needed and leave to dry.
