How to make a pretty hanging heart
Follow our step-by-step guide to making your own pretty hanging heart
Looking for bedroom decorating ideas? Use the remaining fabric, braid and filling from How to make a pretty floral cushion or use scraps of fabric from another project to create this cute-as-a-button decoration.
Takes
20 minutes
What you'll need
* Piece of newspaper
*Remaining fabric, braid and filling from How to make a pretty floral cushion (or scraps of fabric from another project)
Tip
Make smaller hearts in red patterned fabric to use as Christmas decorations. Add a few cloves for a festive fragrance.
1) Draw a heart-shaped template on the newspaper, measuring around 15cm high. Cut two from your fabric - one in the floral and one in the spot.
2) Cut a piece of braid 20cm long and fold in half to make a loop. Match up the raw edges of your loop to the top of one of your fabric pieces and pin. With right sides facing, pin the second fabric heart on top.
3) Machine-stitch around the heart (1cm seam allowance), leaving a small gap of 6cm along
one of the edges near to the bottom point. Turn the right way.
Stuff using some of the filling left from your mini cushions. Slip-stitch the opening closed. Tie a second 20cm length of braid to the bottom of the loop, cutting the ends
to a point for a neat finish.
