Turn your home into a botanical haven with Sainsbury’s
Get a nature-inspired look for summer with the new Botanist homeware range at Sainsbury's
When it comes to choosing a look that's fresh, stylish and inviting, little beats the botanical trend. Brimming with palms, beautiful ferns and rich foliage, it is perfect to update your home for the season. Achieving the look is easy thanks to Sainsbury's new Botanist range, which is packed full with fabulously leafy products.
'Last autumn's moody-hued painterly florals gave way to fresher botanicals for spring,' explains Andrew Tanner, Design Manager at Sainsbury's. 'This is the sophisticated, fashion-led take on conservatory style and to get a handle on it, think a dash of Victorian palm house, with botanical illustrations and brass finishes, which, when combined, beautifully transform the home into a natural haven.'
Green accents against a white or neutral background are the obvious choice for a botanical palette. Don't be afraid to combine different shades: sophisticated teal or crisp apple-green are the perfect counterpoints to darker, mossy hues.
Work the trend with nature-inspired prints, organic shapes and natural materials. Choose cushions and throws featuring beautiful ferns or palm prints, and echo the theme across your home with the right accessories. Think patterned pots and vases in the living room, botanical bed linen and gel candles in the bedrooms and, in the dining room, tableware featuring stylised flowers and foliage. Horticultural stationery and storage boxes are ideal to lift a study or home office area.
Tactile texture is also key to play up the natural look so pair prints with embroidered cushions, woven throws, glass, rattan baskets and plenty of worn wood. Plant displays are another easy way to add texture to your scheme - consider arranging ferns, succulents or even bamboo branches for a sculptural feel.
For a Victorian conservatory atmosphere add vintage-style brass details - sleek, metallic lanterns are especially beautiful. Palmhouse-style prints and pressed leaves are perfect to dress up your walls and complete the look.
