Topshop Unique x Wedgwood collaboration makes the tea party sexy
When two acclaimed British designers collaborate to create a stunning, limited edition piece you know you're in for a treat
Sometimes fashion aficionados and home decors overlap, as in the instance of the Armani designed hotel in Dubai, Kate Moss' interior debut in the Cotswolds and Alexander Wang's collaboration with Italian home designer Poltrona Frau.
But imagine two quintessentially British giants collaborating...
One is the Queen of crockery whilst the other is the King of the high street - yes, it's the new Wedgwood x Topshop Unique limited edition collection and it launches on February 12.
Topshop was tasked with updating a classic Wedgwood teacup and saucer for the SS16 collection - and so the ‘Blackbird' was born.
Combining two of Wedgwood's most memorable and favoured designs, Wild Strawberry and Jasperware, Topshop went about creating a teacup and saucer covered a dark, sultry pattern of thorny plants with a cheeky blackbird stealing a strawberry.
Its muse, ‘a beautiful British rebel with an appetite for fun', inspired the design and it delivered a tea party classic that celebrates rock ‘n' roll glamour and oozes eccentricity.
The duet between the two British design houses also saw Topshop Unique adorn tea dresses, flouncy blouses and delicate skirts in its latest runway collection.

Topshop's Global Creative Director Kate Phelan says: 'We are thrilled to be partnering with Wedgwood on prints for the SS16 Unique collection. The marriage of two such celebrated British brands feels very fitting and the reworked prints perfectly encapsulate our girl for the season.'
The 'Blackbird' teacup and saucer are available online for £75.
Topshop add another notch to Wedgwood's already prestigious list of collaborations with world-renowned designers that includes Jasper Conran, Vera Wang and Kit Kemp.
