1/10 Living room
The classic furnishings and off-white colour palette of the living area are also feature throughout the property and the owners were influenced by chef Raymond Blanc's hotel, Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons. 'We have gone for muted colours and light shades as they are subtle and calm.'

2/10 Exterior
The owners moved in in 1986. The house needed lots of work, but funds were tight. At the time they were also running a catering business from home and it was tricky cooking in such a small space, so the first priority was to extend and put in a new kitchen. The rest of the work has continued over the years and is now complete. 'This place has lots of space, both indoors and out,' say the owners, 'and we love to fill it with family, friends and pets'.
3/10 Informal dining
Decorate your Christmas table in a single accent colour. In their neutral dining room, the owners' festive purple tableware makes a fabulous show. They have continued the colour on to candles on the dining console and out back on the kitchen counter top. This open-plan downstairs space was created when they knocked through the wall between the original kitchen and dining space. 'We always wanted a huge room we could entertain in.'

Pick Christmas decorations that are in keeping with your decorating style. Combine satin, velvet and wool in a sliding scale of greys and neutrals for a bedroom scheme that is naturally calming, restful and beautiful. In this fabulous space, the owners have layered up an upholstered bed and footstool with paired cushions, crisp cotton bedding and the softest of throws. A sparkling chandelier and pale curtains, pelmets and lampshades filter electric and natural light through the purest of whites for a scheme that is always fresh and appealing.

8/10 Bedroom
In a plain space, let colour be your friend. In their guest bedroom, the owners have created a beautifully sophisticated scheme with the addition of silk duck-egg blue curtains and matching cushions. The combination of colour and texture lifts the whole space, while the addition of gunmetal grey throws adds another tonal layer.
9/10 Bedroom seating
Make a guest room as multifunctional as possible for your guests. In theirs the owners have set a love-seat sofa in front of a window so that guests effectively have a living space as well as a sleeping one. The scallop-edged console table is a pretty addition that also provides a handy surface, while tassel-trimmed silk curtains create a truly theatrical touch at the window.

10/10 Bathroom
Bring a sense of drama to the bathroom with a classic roll-top bath and signature accessories. In this property, the owners have added focal points to two opposite walls by hanging ornate mirrors flanked by stylish wall lights. The effect is to instantly elevate the scheme into something special. Their decision not to fit wall or floor tiles has allowed the couple to treat this space more like any other room in their home. 'Having spent many years in this property means we now have a beautiful home that has our individual stamp on it.'
