Aldi Christmas 2020 advert – Kevin the Carrot is back alongside much-loved actor Jim Broadbent
The nation's favourite carrot is back with another Christmas adventure
Kevin the Carrot is back for more yuletide fun and games for Christmas 2020! He's back and better than ever, in a new advert that shows his struggles to get home for Christmas to be with his carrot family.
The first airing is tonight at 19.45p.m on on ITV during the ad break on Coronation Street. The humble carrot stole the heart of the nation when he first appeared in the Aldi Christmas advert, back in 2016. Overcoming adversity each year, as a nation we're gripped by what's next in store for Kevin the Carrot.

33 million of us tuned in to see Kevin the Carrot in Aldi’s Christmas advert last year, which was crowned the most effective Christmas advert of 2019! Good old Kev.
This year he's back, with more adventures in store for us.
We're rooting for Kevin the Carrot for Christmas 2020
One year he was almost eaten by Rudolph, but made a lucky escape. The following year he was pelted with peas, and there was a brief moment we thought he was done for. But thankfully he was well, he found even true love with Katie the Carrot and had a family of his own. Then we had the cliff hanger, literally, as he was hanging off a cliff. And last year he ran into trouble with the Leafy Blinders!
In Aldi’s Christmas teaser, aired earlier this week, Kevin set the sky alight, Top Gun style, in a fighter jet escapade with co-pilot Turkey. He was left perilously adrift with a flaming parachute, leaving fans asking Where is Kevin, and will he manage to get home to Katie and family in time for Christmas?

Determined to be reunited with his loved ones no matter what, Kevin is fortunate enough to find a few new friends to help. Getting him out of his snowy spot of bother is a friendly hedgehog, Harry, who gives him a lift.
With the vibe being very similar to Kevin Mccallister's Mum in Home Alone – the Aldi advert even features the same backing track as that of the film.
This year Father Christmas is played by much-loved actor, and narrator of previous Kevin the Carrot adverts, Jim Broadbent.
Jim Broadbent commented that he was delighted to be involved with the advert this year. 'It is my great pleasure to step into Father Christmas’ shoes and bring the festive spirit to life for Aldi with my co-star Kevin the Carrot. I hope this campaign brings a little joy and magic to everyone this Christmas.'

'We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks' says Sean McGinty, Marketing Director at Aldi UK. 'Kevin’s popularity keeps on growing and this year, more so than any other, Kevin’s return to TV screens will come as a welcome relief for so many.'
Aldi's Christmas advert 2019
Last year’s advert saw Kevin run into trouble with new character Russell Sprout (brilliant), and his gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’. As they tried to prevent Kevin and his family of carrots stealing the show as the star Christmas vegetable. After hearing his plans on putting on a massive Christmas show.
We saw Kevin tied to grater, as fate worse than death for a carrot. Russel takes aim and fires a tomato at the defenceless star. Luckily for Kevin the tomato in question is Tiny Tom who helps to set him free so the ‘Christmas Spectacular' show can go on.
And who could forget Kevin singing to to us, ‘Let me entertain you’, as Aldi gave Robbie Williams' famous song a complete rewrite.
Aldi's Christmas advert 2018
The previous year's adventure started with Kevin the Carrot at the wheel of a large delivery truck. He's hurtling along, no doubt trying to make all the carrot deliveries in time for Christmas.
While out in the snow, in his rather familiar looking festive truck (cough, cough), he runs into danger! He's hit by falling snow, causing him to swerve. Narrowly missing the trees and skids on the ice. The next minute he's precariously perched off the side of the road.
The doors dramatically fling open – there's a danger of losing the contents of the van, which curiously appears to be only carrots?!
We had the cliffhanger! Would he be rescued in time? Would the people get their carrots? Or would the carrot cargo meet an untimely end?
We thought he's got to make it out, right? What about Katie the Carrot and the young baby carrots? Aldi had us hooked, making us wait for a second instalment a week later. OMG the drama. Thank goodness this year we can rest easy knowing all is well with our favourite carrot family.
