5 glorious reasons to get your glamp on this summer

Glamping, darling

Festival season might be in full swing, but there's only one sure-fire way to enjoy the great outdoors and stay cool this summer: Glamping.

The experience is defined as ‘a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping'.

Which is absolutely fine by us.

Yes, forget leaky tents and mud-encrusted hair, summer 2015 is the season to get your glamp on and enjoy the great outdoors in serious style - and here are five reasons why...

1. It's clean

Glamping in a teepee or vintage caravan has one major advantage over traditional camping: It's clean. You can leave your muddy wellies well away from your bed and have much more space for drying wet clothes (compared to waking up with a mud-encrusted wellie boot print on your face).

2. It's a cheap holiday

We love a bargain, and taking a week's glamping holiday can make you huge savings compared to a hotel stay aboard, if you do your research. Have a search online, or contact the local tourist information centre in the area you're keen on visiting for ideas and discounts.

3. You can enjoy the great outdoors

Glamping is usually undertaken in the wilds, either on the coast or in national parks with oodles of fresh air to fill your lungs. The best bit? Lazy evenings looking out at the sunset (knowing you have a comfy bed to enjoy when the sun goes down!).

4. It's warm and dry

The benefit of a luxury tent or caravan to sleep in? It's warm and dry with much more space to enjoy. Think of it as the famous bit in Harry Potter when the Weasleys stay at the Quidditch World Cup and their 'tent' extends into an entire home. "I love magic". So do we, Harry.

5. You stay in unusual places

Glamping sites in the UK - and abroad - are usually found off the beaten track, in areas of the country you might not have found without it. Not only do glamping sites offer fancy tents and vans, you can also stay in treehouses, jungles and more. That two man tent with dodgy guy ropes isn't looking too hot now, is it?

Feeling inspired? Here's how to glamp in style this summer.
