Ray of light: after 6 months on the market Madonna finally sells the New York apartment she bought with Sean Penn, for a staggering £13m
After dropping the price by £2 million, Madonna has decided to 'Take a Bow' and leave the Upper West Side apartment she bought with former husband Sean Penn
Madonna had almost been driven to the borderline of distraction trying to flog her 6,000 sq ft Manhattan duplex overlooking Central Park. But after six months on the market and a whopping £2 million price drop, the Material Girl's hopes have been answered (a bit like a prayer, you might say).
The swanky six-bedroom property, located in a super-exclusive Upper West Side apartment block, Harperley Hall, sold last week for £13 million. It was was orginally marketed at £15 million back in November 2012.
Situated on the
corner of West 64th Street, facing Central
Park, Madonna bought the property back in the mid-80s with her then husband, bad boy actor Sean Penn.

Madonna married Sean in 1985 after meeting on the set of her Material Girl video shoot. They divorced in 1989.
Speaking about her first few years in New York, Madonna said: ‘I came here with 35 dollars in my pocket. It was the
bravest thing I'd ever done.’
Now, however, her Madgesty is celebrating making a packet on her parkside pad, despite the trials of trying to sell it over the past few months.

The property boasts six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a gym, doorman and rooftop garden overlooking Central Park.
Inside, the apartment, which was designed by Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone, features a luxury wood kitchen, marble bathrooms, beautiful high ceilings and large fireplaces.
Over the past few years, the pop star has angered a few of her Upper
West Side neighbours in the building by blasting out loud
music.
Fellow Harperley Hall resident, Karen
George, brought a lawsuit against the singer in 2009 complaing of ‘blaring music, stomping and shaking
walls’ for up to three hours a day. They settled their dispute out of
court in December 2011.
The new owner is hedge fund manager Deepak Narula, a former trader at Lehman Brothers.
Living in this exclusive part of Manhattan he'll be able to count superstar funnyman Jerry Seinfeld and movie director Steven Spielberg as neighbours.
Madonna has not lived in the apartment for a while, as she now prefers to spend her time in her Upper
East Side townhouse, which she bought for £21 million in 2009, after her split from Guy Ritchie. Fair enough really. After all, the Upper East Side is more in vogue...
